Michael Cadiz - guitare pour la GDL en cours de construction - work in progress

"It’s been a relatively long and meandering road that brought me to guitar building; the scenic route, so to speak. I was born in 1983 outside of Baltimore. My mother was from northern Michigan and my father, from the Philippines, hence the Spanish name.

I started playing guitar at the age of eleven. I studied with the Michael Nicolella throughout my high school years and then later in France with Jean-Pierre Billet and at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with Chicago with Sergio Assad. After finishing my studies, I felt unsure about making a career as a classical guitarist. After spending a few years driving around the country in a station-wagon playing music with bands, I became serious about guitar building..."

 

"Ce fût une route relativement longue et sinueuse qui m'a mené à la fabrication de guitares ; la route scénique, pour ainsi dire. Je suis né en 1983 à l'extérieur de Baltimore. Ma mère venait du nord du Michigan et mon père, des Philippines, d'où le nom espagnol.
J'ai commencé à jouer de la guitare à l'âge de onze ans. J'ai étudié avec Michael Nicolella tout au long de mes études secondaires, puis en France avec Jean-Pierre Billet et au Chicago College of Performing Arts avec Sergio Assad. Après avoir terminé mes études, je n'étais pas sûr de faire carrière en tant que guitariste classique. Après avoir passé quelques années à faire le tour du pays dans un wagon de gare à jouer de la musique avec des groupes, j'ai commencé à m'intéresser sérieusement à la fabrication de guitares..."
